THE LETTER

leave a comment »

The Letter form is self explanatory and can work well in limited situations; e.g., a tightly focused marketing plan to find a specific type of job in a narrow range of employment opportunities. This form joins the time-proven technique of a direct mail letter (personal enough despite everyone knowing it’s offset printed) with a truly personal statement of why one thinks he or she should be considered. There’s miles of room when utilizing this form to customize every little detail and perfect it, as well as aim it at one’s highest desired position in the workplace.

AN OPEN DOOR

leave a comment »

Another version of the Open Door form in bioblogging below shows how the white space of resumes can be employed to focus in on the message. Rather than clog up the document from margin to margin with packed data, the opposite approach is taken here that opens the door to further discussion. An image is used to demand “look at me!” and a few words are offered as to what “it’s all about.” This bioblog exudes self confidence and implies the ability get the job well done no matter how tough!

SING YOUR SONG

leave a comment »

Performers often send out 8″ x 10″ photos and resumes that start to look like all other performers’ resumes. This bioblog gives the performer a chance to do something a little more subtle, a bit different in a less commercial way. By allowing the art to set the stage, the rest of it (the necessary text) has a suitable background to present itself upon, and this bioblog will be one component of a portfolio that includes a CD/DVD and press materials.
