BIOBLOGS: 21ST CENTURY RESUMES

One of the best ways to get any message across is to tell a story because it is written into our genetic code to want to hear a story. One of the reasons we all enjoy meeting people from other places is to hear their stories, and we know that inside just about every passing person on the street or sidewalk has a story. If resumes are not stories, I don’t know what they are: bioblogs make them more pictorial, paint a brighter picture, make them illustrative of experience while emoting a certain aspect of confidence and certainty—not a bravado, but a quiet boasting of “knowing your stuff.” What’s wrong with that? Donald Trump does it, and everyone seems to like it coming from him, which means that we mere humans should be able as well to hype our personal brand and hawk our skillsets-in-characters.
